Welcome to Griffith Elementary...

Helen Griffith Elementary School is one of four elementary schools in the Washington Community School Corporation.  Griffith Elementary is located on a hilltop overlooking Business Highway 50.  Approximately 400 students from the south and east sections of Washington attend our kindergarten through sixth grade school.

Originally built in 1963, Griffith Elementary School was expanded and renovated in 1996.  Our present facility addresses the total learning climate with carpeted classrooms, a spacious media center, a computer lab, a full size gymnasium, air conditioning, and thermo-paned windows.

Our greatest strength is the warm, caring and competent staff.  We are proud of the results achieved through paying attention to student needs and providing quality instruction.  Our facility is committed to ongoing professional growth to get these results.  A committed staff placed in a warm and caring environment makes Griffith Elementary a great place for students to learn.  Our mission is to prepare our students to be literate and responsible citizens in a changing global society, able to succeed in tomorrow’s workplace.
